Kiwi competition

Otago Maths Problem Solving
Problem Challenge is a mathematics problem-solving competition aimed primarily at children in years 7 and 8 but may be of interest to mathematically gifted children in year 6. It has been offered to schools throughout New Zealand for the past 32 years. Almost one million New Zealand children have participated in the competition over the years. Epro8
Epro8 is a combination of engineering, mathematics, problem-solving and innovation. Students of years 5-6 take part in tournaments over the year in completing guided challenges with many other schools.
At St Ignatius, 8 years 6’s will be given the opportunity to compete and represent our school. Their training will take place during lunchtime each week. Epro8 is a combination of teamwork and time management. It is highly popular among all students as it drives their creative and competitive side.
Chess

SHINE – Speech and Drama
Shine Speech & Drama courses have been designed by Nina Burchett to empower and inspire children through spoken excellence. Shine courses help children learn effective speaking, reading aloud, public speaking, speech writing, poetry recital, vocal skills, body language and personal presentation. https://www.shine.school.nz/#inspire
Lit Quiz
The Kids’ Lit Quiz is an annual literature quiz for our Year 6 students. This annual event takes a lot of hard work and dedication from the two teams that compete. Teams have a term to read a set list of books and memorise/remember facts, quotes and information from each book!
