Te Ao Māori
At St Ignatius Catholic School we believe in the importance of our ākonga developing and appreciating the value of Te Ao Māori.
Students at all year levels develop their knowledge and understanding of Te Reo and Tikanga Māori. This is woven throughout our curriculum.
Tuakana/Teina is evident in all learning spaces with ākonga taking on leadership roles, sharing their knowledge of Te Reo with other learners. At the end of Year 6, they will be confident in situations where Te Reo and Tikanga Māori are used.
Learners from Years 4-6 participate in our kapa haka group. This group leads the rest of the school during Whakatau, Matariki celebrations, Celebrate graduation, and other events during the school year.
