Sport
All students participate in daily fitness activities and regular planned Physical Education lessons.
Whole School Events (Year 1-6)
Athletics is held at Mount Smart Stadium in Term 1. The top Year 5-6 athletes, go on to compete in the Bay Suburbs inter-school event.
Cross Country is held at Glover Park in Term 3. The top Year 4-6 runners, go on to compete in the Bay Suburbs inter-school event.
Swimming is held at Swimtastic in Term 4. All Students are coached by specialist swimming tutors at Swimtastic over 2 weeks of lessons during school hours. This culminates in a Swimming Sports competition for Year 4-6 and fun watersports for Year 1-3 students. The top Year 5-6 swimmers go on to compete in the Bay Suburbs inter-school event.
Bay Suburbs Interschool Tournaments
St Ignatius Catholic School belongs to the Bay Suburbs school group involving nine local primary schools. Teams are sent to compete in one-day tournaments in the following sports – Swimming, Softball, Football, Rugby (Rippa/Tackle), Netball, Cross Country Running, Basketball, Hockey, Touch Rugby and Athletics.

Outside School Teams
There are a number of school students that compete in teams out of school in sports like the Weetbix TRYathlon, Netball, Touch Rugby, Flippaball and Gymnastics. These teams are organised by parents. Parents are encouraged to speak with the school if they would like to introduce or support other sports teams.
